Meet The Staff

As a team of experienced landscapers, we open the door for each customer to enjoy their home from the outside.

Our entire ECI staff of landscape contractors agrees that there is nothing more satisfying than working with people in an environmentally responsible manner to enhance their leisure experience while staying within the comfort of their own private space. We are passionate about green landscaping -- providing quality construction and eco-friendly Northwest gardens. Our goal is to help design and develop fresh and unique landscapes that reflect each client's sense of individuality. We are committed to fine quality and excellent design.

Tom Barrett, President Tom Barrett, President of Environmental Construction Inc., graduated from Ohio State University in 1979 with a BS degree in Landscape Horticulture. Tom's unique abilities at site assessment & development, eco-friendly landscaping, and personal skills have kept him busy as a landscape contractor. He has been creating gardens and improving outdoor spaces in Northwest Washington for almost three decades.

Lori Beehner, Logistic Manager Lori Beehner, General Business and Garden Stewardship Manager, Designer and Estimator. Business Partner: Lori is a 1994 graduate of St. Cloud State University of Minnesota. After honing her management skills for seven years with a large retail store, Lori recognized her urge toward creativity and changed her career path. She started to install gardens with ECI in 2004. After taking additional design classes from South Seattle Community College, Lori has become a green industry force to be reckoned with. Her sense of creativity, quality control, and organizational skills has cemented her role as an integral part of our landscape design and customer service team. In 2010, Lori offered to Champion our Garden Stewardship group of specialty gardeners which has grown steadily ever since. In 2017 she accepted the opportunity to become a shareholder with Environmental Construction, Inc. helping to assure ECI's continued growth into the future. We are a far better company thanks to her years of service and continued interest.

Jonathan Daughtry, Landscape Foreman Jon Daughtry, Landscape Construction Supervisor, Logistics Manager, Lead Estimator. Business Partner: Jon has been with Environmental Construction, Inc. since August 2007. He is amazing. There is no job too big or too small for Jon to tackle, and he always has a positive attitude and a smile on his face. He is a person who is also able to spread that positive energy to his co-workers as he leads them through each day's challenges. As of this writing, Jon handles the day to day coordination of our construction crews, and in 2017 he accepted the opportunity to become a shareholder with Environmental Construction, Inc. helping to assure ECI's continued growth into the future. We are a far better company thanks to his years of service and continued interest.

Brion Henault, Lead Designer Brion Henault, Lead Designer, is an Army Veteran who served in Germany until 1991. Brion used his military benefits to study Horticulture at Edmond's Community College before graduating from The University of Washington in 1997 with his degree in Landscape Architecture. Brion also holds "Certified Horticulturist" and "Eco Pro" certificates. He previously worked with ECI from March of 2006 through April of 2012 when he left to work with the Everett Parks Department and especially to be close to home after his daughter Olivia was born. Brion's wife Ann certainly appreciated his help around their home.

We were thrilled to welcome him back to ECI in August, 2018 when he called us to say his daughter was into school now and he was ready to re-spread his creative wings again.

Brion helps us in many ways as a lead designer, estimator, project supervisor. His construction experience from several home remodels helps bring a sense of calm to any project he is involved in. Regardless of our individual politics Brion, we thank you for your service to this country.

Travis Bergner, Landscape Technician Travis Bergner, Landscape Technician, has been with Environmental Construction, Inc. since April of 2010. Travis is generally cool, calm, and collected as he faces and works through the challenging jobs that we ask him to tackle. His capacity to understand and master complex carpentry challenges makes him ideally suited for our outdoor kitchens, decks, pergolas, and other carpentry projects. Travis has also become a skilled mason.

Travis' list of things most folks do not know about him includes a love of puff pastries, his Spectize Bass Guitar, and his penchant for living on the edge. When asked, he said he works for Environmental Construction to satisfy his lifelong obsession for playing in the dirt.

Nate Vanbuskirk, Landscape Construction Staff Nate Vanbuskirk, Landscape Construction Staff, is our second locally-born-and-raised employee from Whidbey Island, Washington. Having grown up as a second generation construction kid, the broad exposure he received from his dad have gone a long way toward increasing our abilities to build wonderful gardens. His work ethic is second to none and his observation and suggestions regarding how Environmental Construction Inc. can operate more smoothly and efficiently offer unexpected value to having him on our team. Nate loves cars, working out at the gym, and learning about the various aspects of both landscape construction and garden stewardship.

Zach Brown, Landscape Construction Staff Zach Brown, Landscape Construction Staff. In addition to Tom Barrett, Zach represent the third Environmental Construction Inc. team member from NE Ohio. He studied Forestry at Hocking College in SE Ohio where he learned to appreciate the environmental wonders of our planet earth. He moved to Seattle in 2015 because our state offered him the unique combination of city life surrounded by forests, mountains and ocean that we all know and love. Zach enjoys reading true life stories of survival and loves working with plants and being able to make a living operating outside the four walls that many call their office.

Craig Holland, Landscape Construction Staff Craig Holland, Landscape Construction Staff. After growing up on Whidbey Island, Washington, Craig enlisted in the US Army for 3-1/2 years. While learning the skill of clearing IED's from the roadway ahead of our troop movements, he also learned the importance of keeping a cool head under enormous pressure and working with a team. These are both skills that we have found useful in this company and apply well as he has become one of our first "certified flaggers". Craig moved back to Seattle and joined our team in July 2017, and now represents the tying run between employees from Ohio and those from Whidbey Island, WA. We enjoy three of each. When asked what personal qualities he wanted people to know about him, he replied, "Single and ready to mingle". Hmmm...I wonder how long that will last?

Craig is as solid as they come and honest as the day is long. We continue to count our good fortune for the opportunity to work with him and the rest of our staff. Regardless of our individual politics Craig, we thank you for your service to this country.

Edgar Florez Sanches, Landscape Construction Staff Edgar Florez Sanches, Landscape Construction Staff. We were happy to welcome Edgar who started working for ECI in February, 2018. Edgar always brings a great attitude and is a fabulous team player. His skill set has been growing quickly as he has added carpentry, paver construction, irrigation, and various equipment operation to his existing concrete construction skills. In his off time, Edgar likes to go out to dinner and enjoys a game of bowling as well as hiking during the summer and watching movies in the winter with his wife Sarah.

Josh Thompson, Landscape Construction Staff Josh Thompson, Landscape Construction Staff, is a veteran of the United States Navy. After serving his country, he worked as an accountant and contract administrator before he realized he wanted to get out of the office and into the great outdoors. Josh shared his ideas with a fellow ECI co-worker and was hired onto the ECI team in April of 2018. Josh brings a deeply appreciated eye for detail and can really see the big picture scope to the projects he gets involved with. When not spending time with his wife Christy and two sons, Brayden and Samuel, he can be found on the softball field as the fleet footed left fielder for his team. Regardless of our individual politics Josh, we thank you for your service to this country.

James Stockdale, Landscape Construction Staff James Stockdale, Landscape Construction Staff. We welcomed James Stockdale to the ECI team in October, 2018 as one of our Garden Stewards after he wrapped up two years with the US Forest Service helping monitor streams and wetlands. James holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture from Penn State University where he graduated in 2013. His passion for tending this earth was also nurtured by his experience of 2 years at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh, PA where he studied native and aquatic plants and sustainable gardening techniques. He also enjoyed a one year Biology internship at the Sandhill Crane Wildlife Refuge in Mississippi.

When James is not tending our gardens he enjoys playing the guitar and banjo. He also loves to hike with his girlfriend, Tess, and their 3-year-old Australian Shepherd named Kylo.

Ricky Bissett, Landscape Construction Staff Ricky Bissett, Landscape Construction Staff. Ricky came to ECI from Colorado in November of 2018. He is a veteran US Marine who was a dog handler / infantryman who served two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Ricky also holds a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability Studies form Colorado Mountain College. We are happy to welcome him to our team of Garden Stewards. In typical marine fashion, Ricky says "I love plants, animals, and a few people". In his spare time he enjoys his life partner Stephanie, and their two children Kayden and Wyatt. Ricky is a gentle soul who practices competitive body building. He came to Seattle to be near the unique landscapes and the ocean air. We are happy to have him and would like to end with the thought that regardless of our individual politics Ricky, we thank you for your service to this country.

Pamela Shepodd, Office Manager Pamela Shepodd, Office Manager, has been living in the great northwest for decades. She has been on the Environmental Construction team since 2012. Her extensive background in small business management has been a true benefit to our company.
