WATER FEATURES

Gallery

From simple structures to complex systems, water features pull your attention into the garden. Whether it is the soft sound of falling water into a pond or the glint of sunshine reflecting off the wet rocks, life is always a little more relaxing when you can sit by the water.

Water features can establish an urban wildlife habitat in your garden by combining color and texture with a source of drinking water into a sanctuary for birds and butterflies. The four types of water features used by Environmental Construction, Inc. are Waterfalls, Ponds, Fountains and Cisterns.

Waterfalls

Water cascading over natural stone attracts the interest of people and animals into your garden. Flows range from showers of fine droplets breaking up the spectrum of light, to dramatic gushes and spurts which exhilarate and excite.  Though waterfalls vary in size they are usually self-contained systems with underground storage tanks and pumps.

Ponds

Tranquil water provides a canvas that reflects and enhances your landscape. Ponds include shallow reflecting pools and deeper systems to support fish (such as Koi). Ponds require adequate circulation, aeration, and filtration to provide a healthy environment for everything in and out of the water.

Fountains

Fountains are water at play in sight and sound. They can be located anywhere in a garden; incorporated into walls, drilled basalt columns or as part of larger water features. Fountains typically require less maintenance than waterfalls or ponds.

Cisterns

Rainwater plays such an important role in your landscape. A cistern in any incarnation is a great way to display natures reward for your garden. Bird baths and dish rocks are aesthetically-pleasing cisterns.

HOT TUBS/SPAS

The four season landscape feature. Relax, refresh, and recuperate. Hot tubs and Spas are intimate landscape features installed as both a private and a social extension of your home.

The location of the tub within the landscape will determine the usage and installation costs. Usually, the closer the tub is to the house the more frequently it will be used and maintained. A tub that is situated in an open yard may require plantings or structures that will provide privacy for the bathers. All tubs require a level surface. Tubs can be installed on decks reinforced to support upwards of 2½ tons. If a tub is to be installed on the ground the surface should be either a concrete or plastic spa pad.
